SHOOTING AN ELEPHANT by George Orwell to be made in to a film with your help.
Director JP Rothie writes: Nearly two years ago, I was given permission by the Orwell Estate to adapt SHOOTING AN ELEPHANT and I’ve been putting the pieces of this project together ever since. Early on it became clear that this was a major undertaking and that I needed help.
As luck would have it, my good friend Alec Sokolow also revered Orwell and became my partner in this project. Alec is an amazing writer who co-wrote Toy Story and followed that up with many other commercially successful studio films. But this project isn’t about commercial success — it’s about putting together a beautiful film that we’re passionate about, not only for Orwell fans, but also for people who want to learn more about what shaped this immensely talented and influential writer.

I want to add a comment. I have had the privilege of working with JP in adapting “Shooting An Elephant” into script form. It was both daunting and exhilarating to try and tackle the events Orwell wrote about with the thematic intent. I believe we have something truly unique and provocative percolating here. We will work day and night to try and make a film short worthy of George Orwell’s legacy.

Deplorable…! You do know they’re not actually going to shoot a real elephant… right?
I doubt any elephants or other animals will be “shot”, only in the film sense as “to shoot a picture/movie”. JP never would do harm at all. EMD
