Congratulations, Darcy Moore

Darcy Moore, the Australian independent scholar, was announced as the winner of The Orwell Society’s Peter Davison Award 2024 at an event at University College London, on Thursday October 24th.

Attendees were thrilled to hear about new discoveries made by Mr Moore when he addressed the presentation.

In his acceptance speech Darcy spoke about thirteen previously unknown letters written from George Orwell to the sculptor, Siegried Charoux. He also talked about two letters to David Astor: one written from Canonbury Square in 1946 and the other, the following year, from Barnhill, Orwell’s home on Jura where he was writing Nineteen Eighty-Four. We look forward to hearing more about these and other recent discoveries shortly.
