George Orwell in Leeds: 1936 and 2022

We thank Richard Wilcocks and the organisers of the Leeds Literary Festival for inviting the Orwell Society to join in the commemoration of George Orwell’s visits to Leeds while he was researching The Road to Wigan Pier.

Richard has written a report on the visit to the house in which Orwell stayed, and the following talk given at the HEART Centre in Headingley, on the Leeds Literary Festival blog.
