George Orwell Studies: New bumper issue

The latest, 136-page bumper issue of the biannual journal, George Orwell Studies (Vol. 4, No. 2), just published, includes a massively detailed and original account by Orwell Society founding life member Kevin Carter of Orwell and Eileen’s visit to Marrakesh between September 1938 and March 1939. Darcy Moore reveals startlingly new information about Aunt Nellie – a constant support to Orwell throughout his life – and her tragic end. The ‘invisible sources’ in Orwell’s ‘Shooting an Elephant’ and Burmese Days are examined by Carol Biederstadt. Peter Brian Barry explores Orwell’s evil-scepticism while Richard Lance Keeble’s paper focuses on Orwell’s dress sense, his writings on clothes – and nakedness.

George Orwell Studies (Vol. 4, No. 2)

The journal is jointly edited by Richard Lance Keeble and Tim Crook and operates completely independently of The Orwell Society. For full details click here.

Masha Karp asked me to forward Mr Keeble a copy of my essay on George Orwell. They were going to publish it in their next journal but thought it might better suit your publication. Could you give me Mr Keeble’s email so I can forward a copy?

Appreciate the recommendation. Let me try it out.
