The next issue of the biannual journal, George Orwell Studies, celebrates the 70^th anniversary of the publication of Nineteen Eighty-Four with seven international scholars sharing their personal reflections on the novel. They are Ron Bateman, Carol Biederstadt, Kristin Bluemel, Jesús Isaías Gómez López, John Rodden, Martin Stollery and D. J. Taylor. In addition, Douglas Kerr contributes an essay, ‘Names in Burmese Days: A Fantasia’, Phil Baker writes on ‘Orwell and Captain Robinson’s “Poet”: A More Than Cautionary Note’, Darcy Moore explores ‘Orwell in Paris: Who Was Ruth Graves?’ while Richard Lance Keeble pays tribute to the biographer Gordon Bowker, who died earlier this year.
