Orwell’s hometown gets a dose of “Animal Farmyard”

Peter Burness-Smith, the brains behind the project to convert a Victorian chapel on the Fairmile at Henley-on-Thames into a permanent, and year-round, visitor-centre in honour of the town’s most famous literary son, is convening a dedicated evening of entertainment in Orwell’s honour – and to raise funds for the entreprise. 

The show, Animal Farmyard, promises a lively debate about Orwell, with music from Ellen and the Escapades (winner of the Glastonbury Festival New Talent Prize) and the songs of Ray Davies and George Harrison, plus readings from Orwell’s work.
