‘Such, Such Were The Joys’ Book Launch
In this week’s joint Orwell Society and Pluto Press online event Sean Michael Wilson and Jaime Huxtable, the two authors behind the new graphic adaptation of George Orwell’s contentious memoir ‘Such, Such Were The Joys’, describe how they approached the work initially, the premises of their thinking, and how professionals bring such a project to fruition. We have the video of the event.
Adaptor Sean Michael Wilson describes how he conceived the work, and how he broke down his vision into instructions as to each page, and part of page.

Using research from original sources, illustrator Jaime Huxtable, following Sean’s specifications, created maquettes, “thumbnails”, to ensure that everything would fit the page intended.
